What to expect during the massage therapy session:
- Step 1: Assesment - The therapist will go over your health history, discuss your symptoms and your goals. Postural assessment, orthopaedic, neurologic testings, and palpation may be used as relevant to evaluate your health needs.
- Step 2: Care plan discussion - The therapist will go over the treatment options to enhance function, aid in the healing process, promote relaxation and wellbeing.
- Step 3: Treatment - The therapist will use a variety of techniques from Swedish, Myofascial, Deep tissue, Trigger point release, Joint mobilization, Muscle energy techniques, and may incorporate stretching, rehabilitative exercises, and hydrotherapy as needed.
- Step 4: Post-treatment assessment - It is an important step that evaluates the effectiveness of the treatment and gives some directions to the therapist as to how to move forward to best meet your goals. The issue may continue to improve, or if it has reached a plateau, will need to be addressed using other techniques.
- Step 5: Home care - the therapist will prescribed remedial exercises, stretching, hydrotherapy, or suggest some changes in your daily living activities, as needed, that will promote the maintenance of the post-treatment results.
Please fill out the online intake form prior to your 1st appointment.
Please be ready to have your appointment be extended up to 15 minutes (without extra charge, if extended testing is necessary). Please consider that the extent of the testing necessary to evaluate a condition can take time, and it will provide information that will facilitate the healing process.
